No blood for you!
As you can see from the picture, i gave
blood. Unfortunately, the thing is, i didn't. On Wednesday, i rock up to the Red Cross Office in the city and go through all the paper work, and blood testing in order to give blood. So, they give me the all clear, and insert the needle into my right arm, which let me tell you was beyond frightening, as this needle is bigger than the immunisation one, and it's my first time donating. Problem!
The blood just doesn't seem to flow. There i am, sitting on the chair with dozens of people around me giving blood with no blood flowing through the tube thing. Everyone else's blood flows just fine, it's just mine that's all stuffed up.
It was so stupid, because i prepared for this soooooo much. I drank so much water, so that the blood with flow, that i went to the toliet so many times as a result. Highly embarassing.
Anyways, the nurse was lovely and was like, it's not your fault i just couldn't find the vein, and blah blah blah, we're going to have to pull the needle out. So they do. And a minute later, blood is slowly coming out of the hole. Gah! It hurt, so much. It literally felt like burning when the needle went in. Then she bandages my arm up, and gets another nurse. The nurse comes over, and asks me if i want to try my other arm. I'm like, why the hell not? I mean, i psyched myself up for this so much, i was going to give blood dammit!
We go through the whole process again, and what happens? The blood doesn't flow again. It was better this time, because i got a little to flow, but it just wasn't working. Only about 2 tablespoons of blood. It was so frustrating. Once again, they take the needle out, and bandage my other arm up.NO BLOOD DONATION FROM ME!
So, in a week or two, i'm going back. Hopefully they'll get some blood out of me. Fingers crossed.
